Tooth whitening has become the #1 requested and performed cosmetic dental procedure. Tooth whitening is a cosmetic dental procedure that lightens teeth & helps to remove discoloration & stains. A thin coating forms on your teeth throughout the day, which attracts stains. The tooth’s enamel contains pores that hold stains. Cavities should be treated before teeth are whitened because the whitening solution can penetrate decay and reach inner areas of the tooth, which can cause sensitivity. Receding gums can also cause roots to become exposed. Whitening will not work on exposed tooth roots, because roots do not have an enamel layer. Whitening also does not work on tooth restorations such as crowns or veneers. Whitening can be done in our dental office or at home. Follow-up visits are recommended to track the whitening process, between the Dentist and Patient.
A Bridge is sometimes used to replace a single tooth or set of teeth. A bridge consists of a false tooth, called a pontic, and the anchors (abutment crowns) that support the pontic. The entire structure spans the space vacated by the missing tooth or teeth. If necessary, the neighboring tooth structure is removed, requiring the patient to receive an anchor crown. An impression is subsequently taken and sent to a dental lab where the bridge is then fabricated. The structure of the bridge is created with a strong, metal alloy that can handle the anticipated stresses brought on by the patients chewing style. Tooth-like porcelain is then fused to the structure. Once the bridge is tested for a correct fit and bite, the anchor crowns are cemented to the neighboring teeth.
Bonding is among the easiest and least expensive of the cosmetic dental procedures. The composite resin used in bonding can be polished & shaped to fit and match the surrounding teeth. Most often, bonding is used for the following cosmetic purposes: To improve the appearance of a discolored or chipped tooth To close slight spaces between teeth To make teeth look longer To change the shape or color of teeth
Arestin is a safe, effective antibiotic treatment used for the treatment of periodontal disease. The process begins with the placement of a slow releasing antibiotic under the gums, to fight the bacteria that causes periodontal disease. The material is an antibiotic that slowly seeps into the surrounding tissue over a period of three months. The antibiotic is effective on a temporary basis for fighting gum disease.
